Dr. Matt Gibson grew up in the Harvest/Madison area. He received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University (War Eagle!) and then went on to attend UAB School of Dentistry, graduating first in his class. He also received the Dean’s Award and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society.
Dr. Gibson went on to complete an additional year of general dentistry training at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, then moved back to the North Alabama area and practiced general dentistry for five years until his passion for learning led him to go back to UAB to complete a residency in orthodontics.
As an orthodontist, Dr. Gibson enjoys the dynamic that comes from treating patients of all ages, from young children to teens to adults, and believes that there is no greater pleasure at the end of orthodontic treatment than seeing a patient excited about the transformation of their smile. Dr. Gibson is very excited to be serving the orthodontic needs of Athens and Madison! Outside of the office, Dr. Gibson enjoys hunting, playing basketball, and spending time with his wife, McKenna, who is also a dentist, and their three kids – Bo, Cooper, and Finnley.
