I feel so blessed to be an orthodontist! I can’t imagine a better job (Can I even call it a job?). It’s fun and energizing, and I get to spend my days creating smiles for amazing people. There aren’t many things more satisfying than seeing a smile transform during orthodontic treatment and watching someone’s self-confidence grow during the process. I especially enjoy getting to watch our child and teen patients grow up. It’s so fun to have the opportunity to be a small part in helping them at that stage of their lives.

Whether you’re the parent of a child or teenager, or you’re an adult investigating orthodontic treatment, we can’t wait to meet you and help you discover your own new smile, or maybe just help you fix that one little thing that bugs you. We are so very humbled by the opportunity to help you in your orthodontic journey!

Matt Gibson

A bit about Dr. Gibson:

Dr. Matt Gibson grew up in the Harvest/Madison area. He received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University (War Eagle!) and then went on to attend UAB School of Dentistry, graduating first in his class. He also received the Dean’s Award and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society.

Dr. Gibson went on to complete an additional year of general dentistry training at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, then moved back to the North Alabama area and practiced general dentistry for five years until his passion for learning led him to go back to UAB to complete a residency in orthodontics.

As an orthodontist, Dr. Gibson enjoys the dynamic that comes from treating patients of all ages, from young children to teens to adults. He believes that there is no greater pleasure at the end of orthodontic treatment than seeing a patient excited about the transformation of their smile. His training and background in general dentistry allow him to approach orthodontics with a unique perspective. He also enjoys collaborating with other dental professionals.

Dr. Gibson is very excited to be serving the orthodontic needs of Athens! Outside of the office, Dr. Gibson enjoys hunting, playing basketball, and spending time with his wife, McKenna, who is also a dentist, and their three kids. He and his family are members of the Madison Church of Christ.
